HISTORY
Calvary Lutheran Church was formed as a mission church in June, 1969 by First English Lutheran Church of Oshkosh to serve the growing areas of Oshkosh and surrounding areas west of U.S. Highway 41. Rev. Alan Madson was the first pastor from the beginning of the congregation until 1973. He was succeeded by Rev. Robert Rosenberg who served as pastor from 1973 until his retirement on May 1, 2005.
Our current pastor, Rev. Timothy Routh, was called on July 2006. He is a retired chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserve and was deployed to Iraq in 2008. He is married to his wife Shari, who is a pastor in Fairwater, WI, and they live in Oshkosh with their dog, Magi.
The 1969 building has had two additions. A Sunday School addition was opened in 1990 and a new sanctuary opened for its first service in 2000. The original church is now The Gathering Place.
Calvary ministers to nearly 350 families mainly from the west side of Oshkosh and we are a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Within that association, we prolaim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and regard the Holy Scriptures as normative for our faith and life.
